TECNALIA is a private, non-profit, research organisation resulting from the merger (1st January 2011) of eight research centres: Fundación Cidemco, Fundación ESI-European Software Institute, Fundación European Virtual Engineering, Fundación Fatronik, Fundación Inasmet, Fundación Labein, Fundación Leia and Fundación Robotiker. With around 1,419 people (188 PhD) and 113 M€ revenues in 2011, TECNALIA is the leading private research organisation in Spain.

Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) is a research driven, design oriented university of technology at an international level, with the primary objective of providing young people with an academic education within the ‘engineering science & technology’ domain. Together with Delft University of Technology and the University of Twente, the TU/e forms the ‘Federation of 3 Universities of Technology’, or ‘3TU.Federation’. The coordination and partnership within the Federation is intended to strengthen the competitive position and reputation of the Dutch universities of technology at a global level.

CEA (French Atomic and Alternative Energy Commission) is a research state agency for nuclear energy, employing a staff of 16000 people. The Research & Technologies Division (DRT), one of the four operating divisions, manages activities on the new technologies for energy (photovoltaic, batteries, H2 and fuel cells) and nanomaterials with the LITEN (Laboratory of Innovations on Technologies for new Energies and Nanomaterials), technological research institute (staff: 1000?) in charge of this proposal for the CEA.

University of Porto (UPorto) is a public institution of higher education with statuary, scientific and financial autonomy. With origins dating back to the eighteenth century, UPorto (www.up.pt) is currently one the most prestigious Higher Education Institutions of Europe. Located in the second largest city of the country, it is the second largest university and scientific research institution in Portugal, serving around 32.000 students (around 1500 from foreign countries), 2.400 teaching/research staff and 1.600 non-teaching staff that make regular use of its 16 libraries and 14 museums.

ICI CALDAIE s.p.a. is a company with over 50 years of history and experience in energy management and heat production. It was established in 1958 in the province of Verona as a manufacturing company for the production of steel boilers with a high content of water for industrial processes. This is a sector in which it currently holds a worldwide leadership position by providing medium and high power generators for the production of high efficiency energy in the residential and industrial sectors.

HyGear is established in Arnhem since 2002. We design, build and test small-scale gas conversion systems that increase the process/supply chain energy efficiency and the utilization of renewable energy sources. HyGear has expertise in a broad range of gas processing technologies such as (V)PSA, reforming, gas separation and purification, desulfurization and methanation. With these technologies, we are able to offer multiple products that contribute to energy efficiency, process intensification, supply chain efficiency, emission reduction and the utilization of renewable energy sources.

Quantis is a leading life cycle assessment (LCA) consulting firm specialized in supporting companies to measure, understand and manage the environmental impacts of their products, services and operations. Quantis is a global company with offices in the United States, Canada, Switzerland and France and employs close to 70 people, amongst which several are internationally renowned experts in the LCA field.
